Lipstick Boxes

Custom lipstick boxes are printed cartons for bullet lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, lip stains and lipstick sets, specified around a product that is heavy for its size, heat-sensitive and sold by shade. We produce them in cardboard and kraft with tuck-end, sleeve, window and magnetic-style formats. Orders start at 200 units.

Lipstick is a category where the carton does most of the selling. A shopper picks it up, reads the shade name, and decides. That makes the print, the finish and the shade information as important as the structure holding the tube in place.

Shade Information Is the Main Job of the Panel

Unlike many cosmetic cartons, a lipstick carton is read for one thing first: the shade. Plan for it deliberately.

• Shade name and number should sit on a clear, consistent panel across the range so shoppers can compare quickly.

• A colour swatch or colour-coded band helps a shopper find their shade on a shelf without opening the pack.

• Batch and lot information is easiest to handle with a printed label applied per shade, so one printed carton can serve several shades.

• Colour accuracy matters. A carton in rose or berry that prints off-tone next to the product looks wrong. Send us brand colour references and approve a proof before a full run.

Label Copy That Has to Fit

A cosmetic lipstick sold at retail needs a statement of identity, net quantity, an ingredient list, and the responsible person’s name and address. Under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA), each cosmetic product label must also include a domestic address, domestic phone number or electronic contact information (which can be a website) through which the responsible person can receive adverse event reports.

On a slim lipstick carton, that is a lot of copy for a small panel. Send us your final wording at quote stage and we will size the carton and set the type around it. Confirm exact requirements with your own regulatory advisor, since we are a printer and not a regulatory authority.

Structure: Heavy Tubes and Heat

• Bullet lipstick tubes are dense. A metal tube carries real weight, so cartons need a firm base and closure. Auto-lock bottom boxes and reinforced tuck ends hold up better than a light tuck.

• Liquid lipsticks and stains come in wand tubes that behave like lip gloss. A snug fit stops rolling and cap loosening in transit.

• Sets need an insert. A fitted insert holds each tube upright and stops them knocking together.

• Lipstick can soften in heat. A paperboard carton does not insulate. If you ship in summer or to warm regions, tell your carrier and consider how the product is packed for transit.

• Shipping to customers is best handled with a mailer box around the retail carton.

Pricing and Minimum Order Quantity

The minimum order for custom lipstick boxes is 200 units. Magnetic formats, inserts and premium finishes may need a higher run.

To control cost across a shade range, keep one carton size and dieline and use a colour-coded band or a printed shade label, rather than tooling a new structure per shade.

How Your Order Is Produced

• Send your requirements. Tube format (bullet or liquid), exact dimensions, single or set, shade information and label copy, quantity and stock.

• Receive your quote and dieline. Structure sized to your tube, with an insert if needed and panels laid out around your shade and required copy.

• Place artwork and approve the proof. We check bleed, colour mode, resolution, fold lines and that ingredient and contact text is legible at printed size.

• Request a physical sample (optional). Order within 30 days and the cost is credited back. Put your real tube in it before committing.

• Production. Printing, coating, die-cutting, window patching, insert assembly and gluing.

• Quality check and dispatch. Flat-packed and shipped to you.

Standard production runs 8 to 12 days after proof approval, plus transit.
